INTRODUCING

What Is F-Link?

F-Link is a fall detection system that would alert family members when a fall is detected. It is made up of a waist-worn fall detector connected to a home Wi-Fi.

Why This Idea?

I came up with this idea after my granny suffered from a near-deadly slip-and-fall accident. I wished to help the elderly by getting them immediate  help if they fell at home.

Arduino Nano

After designing multiple designs, including a pendant and wrist-worn fall detector, I decided to create a waist-worn fall detector because it is located at the centre of gravity of a person (which provides greater accuracy), and it won't affect user's mobility.

Graphs

The following graphs were obtained when conducting different fall experiments with a subject on a mattress. The graphs were interpreted, and suitable threshold values of gyroscope and accelerator were calculated to provide accurate fall detection. The circled areas were moments of falls.
