DAY 5 - PLAYGROUND & AUTODESK VISITS

the Playground

We visited two companies today, Playground global office and Autodesk. The Playground was founded by Andy Rubin, the founder of Android. It was a start-ups incubator that invested in potential start-ups and provided them with working facilities, spaces and mentorship.

There's a playground in Playground!

Can you see that guy behind wearing a black shirt? He is the founder of Android, Andy Rubin!

Autodesk

Have you heard of Autodesk? If the answer is no, then I'm going to tell you how amazing this place is. Autodesk was my favourite place in Silicon Valley because I saw many front-edge innovations here. I was truly impressed by Autodesk's Motionbuilder technology that was used to film Avatar, my all-time favourite movie! The host also explained to us on some nano-robots that they were developing to track human's health condition. For a technophile like me, this place was my paradise.

Autodesk Pier 9 Workshop

In Autodesk Workshop at Pier 9, we saw many engineers and designers developing their projects with different machines.  I was fascinated with the Massivit Gel Dispensing Printing (GDP) technology that ejected plastic paste through a small nozzle and then use UV ray to harden the gel. This printer could save a huge amount of printing time and printing materials with its incredible performance.

Autodesk Gallery

In the Autodesk gallery, we saw many creative designs and applications developed by Autodesk designers. One of my favourite exhibits was the Soccket Ball - soccer that could generate electricity by converting mechanical energy into electrical energy. It was specially designed for kids in rural areas who did not have access to electricity. Soccket Ball showed me how innovation could bring beneficial changes to society, and that was exactly the reason I want to be an innovator.
